Am I Overreacting?
Anxiety is an experience that we all encounter, but one that is unique to each person. Many times our anxiety may make sense to us, but seem illogical to others, which causes us to feel invalidated or as though we are worrying about things that are not important.
Symptoms of Anxiety Can Include:
- Nervousness, restlessness, or being tense
- Feelings of danger, panic, or dread
- Rapid breathing or hyperventilation
- Increased or heavy sweating
- Trembling or muscle twitching
- Weakness or lethargy
- Difficulty focusing or thinking clearly about anything other than the thing you’re worried about
- Insomnia
- Obsessions about certain ideas; a sign of obsessive-compulsive disorder
- Anxiety surrounding a particular life event or experience that has occurred in the past; a sign of post-traumatic stress disorder
Treatment
Treatment options that I offer include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Acceptance Commitment Therapy. During session, we will take a closer look at what is making you anxious, how you respond to anxiety, and develop effective ways to address those anxious symptoms. We will also discuss the fear of uncertainty and how to accept things we are able to control, as well as things we cannot.
